NextGEN FlashViewer 1.4 Beta 3

In this beta release I finally finished all the features I wanted to include. So from here on it’s only bug squashing. I’m hoping to realease the final version in about a week. Then I’ll update my ImageFlow plugin.

So what’s new since the last beta? Basically it’s two new features. The first one let’s you insert shortcodes much much easier. Up until now you had to either remember all the shortcodes or copy/paste them from somewhere. From the first beta there were a few new shortcodes available, so it got all a bit difficult to remember all the options. Now you can click on the media button in the editor toolbar above the editor and there will be a new tab next to the NextGEN Gallery one. Just enter all your options and the shortcode appears in your editor. It’s just like magic!

The second new big feature is a widget, that lets you add any viewer with any configuration to any widget-enabled area. These widgets are probably less suitable for your normal sidebar, but who says that only sidebars can have widgets, eh? Might be good for a header…

As with any of our beta releases, please let us know any bugs in the forums. If this is the first time you try a beta of version 1.4, then please take 5 minutes and read through the changelog in the readme. There is also an inline help page available (which probably needs to be brought up-to-date after a few more features).

EDIT: You will need the latest SVN version of NextGEN Gallery. A tutorial on how to set up SVN can be found here under Option 2

thanks for all the work you’ve done with this, good job!

one question regarding tiltviewer pro options. there are additional options available that are not in the newest version. They are:

    tiltAmountIn
    tiltAmountOut
    enableSounds

I was going to attempt to add them myself and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction (I’m a coder but not at all familar with wordpress plugins, was just going to wing it), unless it’s something you wouldn’t mind doing.

    • Boris says:

      Hey peteb,

I’ll add the new options. There’s quite a few files now. Not quite so easy any more to find everything you need to change :)

      Boris

also noticed the first variable, wmode : “opaque”, is not listed, I believe the this would fall under general (as it’s a general flash setting, not tiltviewer specific). It would be nice if this could be toggled between opaque and transparent.

  3. peteb says:

Boris, I’ve made all the necessary changes and it’s working as I desire, thanks for the consideration.

    • Boris says:

Alright, thanks peteb. Would have taken me another few days. I’m on holiday in the UK at the moment. Could you send me the changes? Then I’d add your code to the trunk. Cheers, Boris

    Hi.

I have some problems in the gallery->flashviewer page with this update.

The ajax menu don’t works and I have all the option in one page, also, updating them seems to be useless.

While I wait for a working version, is it possible to define that things (background borders colors) inside the [autoviewer XXXX] call in the posts?

    Hi Boris,

Firstly, thanks for a great set of plugins.

I am using the tiltviewer for a client of ours and he requires a link (to pdf copies) be avalable on the flip-side of images. I believe the original tiltviewer.swf supports this within the xml, however, the database records (and xml generator php) within your wp plugin, dont support it.

Before I forge ahead and start extending your app with the necessary extra field(s), I thought I’d check to see whether this was currently anywhere on your own wish-list of new features. Any plans for this, or shall I forward my mods to you once I’ve completed it?

    Many thanks

    rob.

    • Boris says:

      Hey Rob,

it’d be great if you could send me any mods you’ll do. I’m pretty busy at the moment, don’t even have time to work on the beta versions of my plugins, but I’ll implement it once i’ve gota bit more breathing space.

      Cheers,
      Boris

    Hi Boris.

I’m a bit stuck with your plugin actually because:
    - the stable 1.3 doesn’t work for me, don’t know why it shows a blank rectangle (it doesn’t load the flash stuff).
    - this 1.4 beta 3 works, on the frontend, but in the backend the admin interface seems unfinished and I don’t have normal navigation, neither I can save the options.

I tryed to mix up the versions but there are some php errors due to function renames.

I’ve readed already that you’re stuck and without time, so I don’t want to bother you …

    • Boris says:

      Nokao,
I’ll get to it sometime the next week.

      • Nokao says:

Ok, thank you so much ;)

I also need some info about the description-support.

I mean… I’m going to use this only if I can use descriptions, and I saw that on the original simple/auto viewer it’s possible.

But does your plugin takes that information?

  7. Nokao says:

    Do yo need some help?

    • Boris says:

Well, I’ve got loads to do and just don’t get to continue working on the plugin, so if you want to have a look, get cracking. You can send me any mods you make and I’ll have a look and add it to the trunk.

  8. davidic says:

    Hi..
Really amazing your plugin. I’ve installed all that your explanation and it’s working. Everything works ok, except the configuration of a custom link on the back of TiltViewer. I am running the pro version and all settings are working properly but I have no idea how to put a link on the back. Not using as the title or as alternate text for each photograph in the gallery. Any ideas?

  9. davidic says:

i forget to say i’m using v1.3 of your plugin for wordpress. I’m trying with v1.4.beta3 too but i’ can’t find a way to put the link on the back of the pictures of TiltViewer.

    • Boris says:

Well, you can only put a link to Flickr on the backside for which you need to set up your Flickr ID. You can configure the text for this link in the settings.

      • davidic says:

        Thanks Boris for your answer.
I still have a doubt. I’ve used your plugin in 2 sites. In one of them it’s properly placed the link to Flickr. In the other site i want to do like here: -Digital pig- where the link goes to the shop. It’s not possible? I’ve the Tiltviewer Pro version (i’ve transparent background and it’s without the Tiltviewer button on right bottom).

  10. Antonis says:

    Hello!

Could you please tell me what should I add on the link=”" property? I tried adding the link to the images folder but instead of images I get the link as a link..

    • Boris says:

Yep, that is default behaviour. The link part of the shortcode is used to display the gallery within a popup js window, like ThickBox or Highslide.

  11. Nokao says:

    Hi Boris.

I’m still using 1.3 because for me 1.4 is not working… (do you have an updated one?)

And I can’t get rid of the white border around the pictures with AUTOVIEWER.
Of course I setted Frame Color Width and Height to 0.

I setted in “my website” up there the link of the page I’m trying to fix.

    Can you help me someway?

    I’m going crazy with this.

  12. Nokao says:

I managed to update to 1.4 beta 3 but I have the same problem with white borders:

I think I’m going to use the forum.

  13. Ace says:

  15. wasabi says:

I want to display compact mode in simpe viewer using wordpress. Is this possible, or is this just for using Flickr?

  16. Joachim says:

Great Plugin, nice job and thanks for sharing.

    Joachim

  17. valerie says:

    Hello Boris,
Would it be possible to be able to put HTML in the description and have it shown on the pic with simple viewer? I would need to link each pic to an external website.

    Thank you!
